How to Become a Successful Investor By Alex Shmatov
Expected performance of a stock depends on quality of the company, market evaluation of its stock, and macroeconomic environment. Also general market conditions and news are significant contributing factors in stocks performance. That’s why a good investing decision should be based on a multi-dimensional consideration of many criteria. One of the optimal solutions is to use fundamental, technical, and timing analyses together. (more)

Immucor (BLUD) "Trading Transparency"

Hiya Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my blog, Stock Picks Bob’s Advice! As always, please remember that I’m an amateur investor, so please remember to consult with your professional investment advisers prior to making any investment decisions based on information on this website.

A few moments ago my Immucor (BLUD) stock hit a sale point at an (8)% loss. I sold 154 shares at $34.90. These shares were purchased only a couple of weeks ago, on October 4, 2007, at a cost basis of $38.02. Thus, I had a loss of $(3.12)/share or (8.2)% since purchase.

Since this was a sale on "bad news", meaning a loss, I shall not be reinvesting the proceeds, but instead moving this towards cash (and actually paying down the a bit). I shall be waiting for a sale on "good news" to be adding a replacement to my portfolio. I am now down to 14 s, under my maximum of 20 and well above my minimum of 5 s.

Hopefully, this system of ‘listening to my own holdings’ and moving towards cash makes sense at this time. As my stocks drop in price, I feel as if I am really the amateur investor that I talk about non-stop. But I am happy that I have some sort of disciplined approach to deal with all of this. I know that in the past I would have been over-reacting with each swing of the market. Time will tell how successful I am in this strategy; wish me luck.

With this sale of my own of Immucor, I shall be reducing the rating on the stock:

IMMUCOR (BLUD) IS RATED A HOLD

I’m as guilty as the analyst who writes hold and means sell. I do this because my sale is not based on anything basicly wrong with the stock. It is simply that my timing was not good. Thus, if you don’t have a loss in the stock, I indeed would otherwise be recommending a "hold".

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to leave them on the blog or email me at bobshelpforstocks@lycos.com.

Bob

COOL Decorating Idea.
How’s this for frugal?

If you click on the link above you will see a print out on the floor, of a baby. It is a bunch of sheets of paper put together to put together a big poster actually.

At the party yesterday we saw one of those. So cool. So this morning I played around with it. I came up with a picture for each of my Monkeys. I just happened to have 2 framed posters sitting in the closet. Just poster-sized, cheap black frames. So I uploaded my recent favorite Christmas picture of LM and printed it out. It came out really good.

BM and I chose a picture for his room.

They are framed; I haven’t put it up yet. If you can live with the white lines, it wasn’t that hard. I wasn’t going to bother slicing the pages down to chop the borders, though we do have a paper cutter. I figure that would just be too complicated for me. I don’t do good with putting things together. But this was rather simple and fun.

Anyway, I did not figure it out yet but it looks like you can do the same for top quality prints. It is just free on their web site. Look at some of these!

http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/gallery/i/10668.jpg

We have to fix up LM’s room and I saw that one. Is giving me IDEAS. (Oh yes I know that one would be tough to implement. But looks more fun than painting anyway. Big Grin )

Well here is the website to give it a whirl:

I can just see my house being covered in art in no time. LOL. But I was also thinking it might be a nice gift to put together one of my dad’s photos on one of his walls some day. Sneak over there and put it up as a giant poster or something.

So much you can do.
